I am 29 years old. I LOVE to cook. I live in NC with my Husband, a cat and a dog. I love the seasons and use them to inspire my cooking. We are "outdoor" types. Anything outside we try to do. So, if we can cook over open flame we do, but I have spent time trying to bring those dishes to the stove.( Like anyone else, sometimes its just too cold)My Husband is a hunter, so wild game is on the menu also. Everything from deer to pheasant.
My favorite things to cook
Anything traditional. Soul food, Italian, Mexican, Thai, Seafood. I love the basic dishes in those styles. The trick is, however, I jazz it up every once in a while to keep everyone guessing what the flavor will be. For some dishes I don't stray to far, but others I probably have at least 8 to 10 variations out of 170 + dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holidays!!!!!!!! Traditional Easter: Lamb, rice or stuffing, herbs, aspsrsgus,or veggies. Traditonal Memorial, 4th of July, Labor Day" BBQ, wings, ribs, potato salad, cole slaw, greens, roasted corn. Traditional Thanksgiving: Turkey, stuffing, green beans, greens, corn, cranberry sauce, mashed potatos, mac n cheese(homemade) corn bread. Traditional Christmas:Turkey, lamb or phesant, mint jelly, bread pudding, stuffing, veggies, roast potatos.
My cooking triumphs
My pot roast, homemade maccaroni, Flame grilled chicken, meatballs, homemade chicken and fish tacos, and lamb roast.
My cooking tragedies
When my husband and I were first dating, I wanted to make him a pot roast. I was still new at cooking larger meals like this, so I was nervous. Let's just cut to the chase. A 3lb roast doesn't cook in 45 min!!!! I was so emmbarassed. He was a good sport though. We at the ends, and froze the rest and made fajitas the next night!!!
