For years I was convinced that I didn't like cooking that it was tedious, boring and I was no good at it. Then, a few months before my wedding, my mom gave me an old set of Family Circle cookbooks that she had been given when she married my Dad. The cookbooks weren't just lists of recipes but the kind of cookbooks that talk a little bit about the history of the dish and how to select, cut, store and cook various kind of produce. Suddenly, I was reading cookbooks like they were novels. I'm now married and enjoy cooking even though I dno't have a lot of experience under my belt and my husband seems pretty pleased too.
My favorite things to cook
I like cooking breakfast dishes and serving them for lunch or dinner since usually mornings are more rushed, except on the weekends. I'm interested in things that are healthy although I'm admittedly not a very brave eater. But I'm learning to try new things.
My cooking triumphs
This week I made a pasta dish that was similar to lasagna but not quite, my husband and I had dined at Olive Garden recently and we had both ordered the lasagna. While we were eating my pasta dish this week my husband looked at me and said, "This is better than Olive Garden!" I was pleased.
