About this Cook
I am a 30-something kid at heart. Married to a fellow "foodie" for 11 years. I have a five year old son and four stepdaugters. We live in Pittsburgh. (Go Steelers!!) Pittsburgh is great-there are lots of ethnic foods here. I started cooking very young. My cooking is most influenced by my mom, (eastern European dishes) my aunt (Italian dishes) and countless others.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook period. I love food. The smell of it, the sight of it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I make maple ham for Christmas and Easter-the kids all love it. Cheesecake every Easter. My family loves my stuffing at Thanksgiving. We love making shish kabobs too. Also during football season, gameday is like an all day long buffet of good stuff.
My cooking triumphs
I have made homemade pierogis, homemade bread, and baked lots of stuff that I am proud of.
My cooking tragedies
When my husband and I were first dating, he told me that he liked jalepeno poppers. I thought they were breaded, deep-fried jalepeno peppers. I made them for him. He gagged down a couple, and then, as nicely as he could, he explained to me what they should have been like. We still laugh about that.

Amish White Bread
This is the best homemade bread we have ever made. I like a sweeter, heavier bread so this was perfect.

Hoagie Dip
This recipe rocks!! My husband and kids loved it. Instead of fresh oregano, however, I used a couple of teaspoons of Good Seasons Italian Dressing made with balsamic vinegar and mixed it in with the mayo. This may appear on my Super Bowl buffet!
