About this Cook
i am 29 (again and again lol) and live in central mass. i never cared about cooking until i got out on my own and did not want to live on fast food and take out. so i began cooking. low and behold i was actually good at it. but besides that i love to read and write, well that is when i am not busy with the work that comes with living on a sustainable farm.
My favorite things to cook
there is not anything that i do not enjoy cooking. my favorite thing to do is create a unique yet delicious meal (from salad, meal, desert)that all of the main ingredients we grew here on our little farm.
My favorite family cooking traditions
i preserve jams, jellies, veggies, sauces, pickles, relishes, applesauce and on and on i could go. how much more traditional could it get. this is what people had to do to eat through the cold months years ago.
My cooking triumphs
learning how to become more creative with baking. i once was very scared to steer too far from the recipe before me when baking. the more experienced i have become the more daring i have become and i love it!
My cooking tragedies
HA! there have been many! pie crusts still give me issue. however, i would have to say a batch of cookies i once made that tasted literally (not kidding) like dirt. consistancy and all. not sure what happened except i used a sugar substitute. i know i measured it correctly. so no clue what happened.

Whoopie Pies VIII
These were the PERFECT whoopie pie cookies! They were moist without falling apart, not dry at all. I made some very little to make mini whoopie pies for my son and some bigger for the adults and both sizes cooked very well. I did not use the filling shown here, as I had a ton of buttercream frosting left from another project that I tweaked and made into filling. So I can't review that part. But the cookies I will most definately use again!

Creamy Chocolate Frosting
Not only was this super easy to make but it called for typical pantry staples. Also,it had a great color (almost looks like german chocolate), consistancy (smooth and held together nice) and flavor(not too sweet). I added in almond extract instead of vanilla and made it a 'chocolate almond' flavor. I used 2% milk instead of the evaporated as another user had suggested. It made more than enough to frost a single layer 9 inch cake, but for anything bigger I would double the batch. I will use this recipe over and over again, I am sure of it!

Loosemeat Sandwiches III
Loved this sandwich, as did my five year old son. 'Devoured' is what I would say he did to it. My other half thought it was ok, but not great. He skipped the pickles and mustard and put cheese on his which may have made the difference. But if my 5 year old gave it thumbs up it gets 5 stars from me : )
