I've been a Food & Beverage Manager for over 12 years and have been fortunate to work with some excellent chefs. I have learned much and still ask questions regarding cooking/cuisine. I enjoy learning new techniques and trying them on my husband. He is a great guinea pig!
My favorite things to cook
Veal Mlanese (Frank Sinatra's favorite! I got it from Frank's favorite restaurant in NYC! Yummy!) Beef Stroganoff (my husband's fave!), Chicken Chimichangas, Pecan Pie, Classic New York Cheesecake, Stuffed Cornish Game Hens, Shrimp Stuffed Artichokes, Sauteed Calamari (or Abalone, if in season)w/White Wine, Garlic, Lemon, & Butter, Fresh Baby Spinach Salad w/Brie and Sourdough Croutons, Pate....and much more...too many to list
My favorite family cooking traditions
Any dinner for my husband....we work opposite schedules, so we only have two or three dinners a week together. All are our tradition. The older I get, the more I enjoy the kitchen.
My cooking triumphs
A dinner party with friends and Mom...Crab Stuffed Chicken Breasts, Grilled Asparagus with EVO & Fresh Garlic & Herbs, Wild Rice, and Cheesecake....good wine accompanied the meal, of course. An Oyster BBQ my husband and I had with our neighbors and best friends. We had a variety of sauces that accompanied....mmmmmm.
My cooking tragedies
Swedish Meatballs....I tried a recipe before my husband and I were married. We hadn't lived together that long and I wanted to impress him. The meatballs were golf balls! He tried to eat them anyway....ugh! We did have a good laugh, though and still do when we remember.
