About this Cook
Growing up, meals always brought our friends and family together. My earliest and fondest memories are of cooking. It's something that's interested me since I was very young.
My favorite things to cook
I make meals as healthy as possible now that I'm a mom and am always learning new ways, from sites like these, to make them even healthier. I go for more complicated recipes when I need stress relief and quickly put together dishes during the work week.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving turkey dinner, honey ham at Christmas and my very favorite meal, mom's fried chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy and creamed beans. We have many dishes that I've found are listed by others under a different name.
My cooking triumphs
I seem to have knack when it comes to making something for the first time.
My cooking tragedies
Most of my cooking tragedies come from not listening to my inner voice when I want to change a recipe and when I'm mad at the person I'm cooking for. Sorry Honey =]

Stir Fried Sesame Vegetables with Rice
I'm always changing things up and using what I have on hand. Ground ginger instead of fresh, used chicken, brown rice instead of white, etc. It still came out deeeelish! I'll make again for sure. Probably with shrimp, mmm.

Teriyaki Marinade
I used this as a base recipe, adding pineapple, orange juice and sliced green onions (and a few other things I can't remember) to the mix. It was a wonderful marinade for the chicken kabobs we made!
