About this Cook
I started cooking when I was 5 with my mom's old Easy Bake Oven from the 1960's. Ever since then, I have been baking and cooking! I enjoy to try new things and perfect my favorite recipes. My education has been quite difficult (premed) so my cooking has kind of taken a back seat, unfortunately. Although I do cook and bake whenever I get the chance!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook different ethnic foods. My boyfriend is Indian, so I am always trying to find some really great Indian recipes! Aside from Indian food, I always tend to cook a lot of different pasta dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love helping my grandfather cook Thanksgiving dinner! I always make an apple pie and another "gourmet" dessert.
My cooking triumphs
I would have to say making Indian dishes that are actually good! They are quite hard if you are not use to the spices and what goes well with what.
My cooking tragedies
I once really wanted to make chocolate chocolate chip cookies and I didn't have any vanilla extract, so I thought, just use some almond extract! Yea... It was pretty disgusting!!!!!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread
It was pretty good. Although I felt that it was missing something that would give it a kick...

Fried Rice Restaurant Style
I used brown rice and added snow peas (added wonderful, natural sweetness), bean sprouts and cilantro. It was tasty and easy to make! I would recommend this to any beginner cook - it would be very hard to mess up this recipe! :)

Simple Baked Apples
I like to think of this recipe as apple pie without the crust. It is very good and easy to make! I added vanilla to fat free milk before I poured it over the apple mixture. I also added brown sugar and a few dollops of butter on the top of the apples before I covered it and baked it for 50 minutes. For the last 10 minutes, I uncovered the pan so it could crisp a little bit.
