I've made this both ways, with and without the third step, and I found that the puree/strain results in a better sauce. It's not bad the other way, but it's better when the recipe is followed!

Absolutely wonderful. Followed the directions exactly, although I did increase the amount of praline and was glad I did; it's delicious. Don't be scared of the sour cream. I wasn't expecting much from the pancake mix, but I was dead wrong. This was easily a match, or better than, the so-very-highly-rated banana crumb muffins. Try them!
