I retired from the Pike County School System on Friday the 13th of June after teaching for 35 years. I am very active in my church which is the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Williamson, WV. I am currently the President of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society Nu Chapter in Pikeville, KY. This is a society for women educators.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts
My favorite family cooking traditions
My memories of making Syrian/Lebanese food with my Grandmother Siti and Aunt Adeba who are now deceased. My Mother is an excellent cook and I am trying to acquire all of her Lebanese recipes to carry on the tradition someday to my Grandchildren
My cooking triumphs
Large parties and cookouts are tiring, but so rewarding.
Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners are the greatest, Mom and I cook for everyone. There are usually around 20 to 25 people.
My cooking tragedies
Making Syrian Bread that was as hard as a hockey puck. Dad said that it turned out to be a frisbee instead of something you could eat. It was hilarous. Also, burning hot rolls is a speciality of the family dinners.
