Lemon Snowballs

Pretty good. Mind were a bit softer than I would have liked but others really liked them. I double dipped mine in powdered sugar to get the look I was wanting. I would probably make this again, especially in summer as it is a "refreshing" type cookie.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread I

No quite what I expected. Mine seemed quite dense and heavy. I would play around with it again to see if I can get it a bit lighter in texture.

I definately should have made more dough or decreased the mix because I had quite a bit leftover. I alsp left off the cherries. I would make this recipe again.

Gaye's Microwave Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
This was quick and easy. I had some difficulty getting my powdered sugar to mix in before everything started to harden. Some of the problem may have been because my kitchen was really cold, dunno for sure. Anyway, there were a few pieces that had little chunks of powdered sugar so I just discarded them. Might try this again.

Oh my gosh, these are fabo! Everyone that I made these for has remarked on how good they were. I did a lot of "taste testing" as I made them and yes, they were wonderful...lol!

Pumpkin Cake III

Very delicious. I'm serving this for boxing day lunch with a chocolate glaze. I made mine into mini bundt cakes. I have to import my pumpkin puree to the UK but it's worth it!

Crawfish Etoufee

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
This was pretty darn good. I ended up not using all the flour, only about 3-4 tablespoons which was more than enough to thicken it up. I had some cajun seasoning on hand and sprinkled some of that on it and then served it over brown rice. Also, I didn't have tomato paste on hand and I don't thin it detacted from the taste. I also substituted red peppers for the green. DH kept saying how good it was!

Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
Love these! I made these twice in just as many days. I used maraschino cherries and also multi-coloured glace cherries. The maraschino's were the best. I also covered the cherry with chocolate as well as just putting chocolate stripes on some. I think leaving the cherry uncovered makes the most attractive cookie. I also did some with a combo of white choco and dark choco accents. These are def one of my new fav cookies! One little note, initially I thought the 9 servings meant I would only get about 9 or so cookies but I anaged to get 3-4 dozen out of the recipe. So not sure exactly what's considered a serving size with this cookie.

Quiche Lorraine I

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
I thought this was quite good and easy to make as this was my fist attempt at making quiche. I made mine into individual quiches and plan to use them for boxing day lunch but I wanted to do a test run prior. I want to add some veggies and such but then it won't be quiche lorraine...lol.

Thick Cut-Outs

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
I thought this was petty good. I wasn't paying attention and grabbed the baking soda instead of powder and didn't realize until I had added it. I decided to go ahead and add the powder as well. My first couple of patches puffed up a lot but in later batches, I olled the dough thinner and baked them slightly longer and that seemed to fix my mistake. I will need to make this again the correct way to seem if it comes up to a 5 star. I put it as a 4 star because the taste wasn't 100% what I was looking for.

Tanya's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
Believe it or not, I've never had snickerdoodles before! I think these may be my favourite cookie! I wasn't sure how they would turn out since I'm in the UK, however, someone told me to use strong flour and not just plain and this may have been the key to how great my cookies turned out. These looked gorgeous when they came out of the oven. I plan to use these in my christmas cookie baskets. Yum!

Best Peanut Butter Cookies Ever

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
This was pretty good though I'm not sure it was exactly what I was looking for. Mine seemed quite fragile and I'm just hoping they stay intact when I put them in the gift basket I'm making. My husband and I both agreed that they were way too sweet. If i use peanut butter with sugar in it again, then I will probably half the sugar. If I use no sugar added peanut butter, I will probably still decrease the sugar by at least 1/4 cup.

This was quick and easy which was nice on a work night. However, I think it needed a bit more mustard so will mostly add more next time.

Peppermint Brittle

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
I had so much fun with this recipe. I did a couple of different varieties and everyone loved them! I think this would be really festive if the white chocolate had red and/or green food colouring added. The candy canes that I find in the UK aren't as strong tasting as the ones I could get in the US. I think I would add a tiny bit of peppermint flavouring just to pump up the flavour some.

Date Nut Loaf Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
This was surprisingly good. My DH (who is English) was craving date and walnut loaf so I made this for him. He loved it. I didn't make the icing as he said it's to be eaten plain or with a little butter. Someone else told me it could be eaten with cheese but it didn't sound appetizing to me. A keeper recipe.

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
Gosh, not sure what I did wrong with this recipe but I had the hardest time getting it to come out of the pans without falling apart. I let them cool enough and I greased my pans and I also tried using my silicone pans but I still had sticking problems. However, all in all, the taste was lovely and I hide the bits that fell off from sticking with icing. I'll try this again just to rule out my human error.

Lemon Poppy Seed Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
This is a super easy recipe. I made it for the girls at work and they raved about it. I got mixed reviews on whether it was lemony enough. Some thought it was, others didn't. My personal choice would be more lemon but to be fair, I didn't use the icing/glaze so that might have made a difference.

Carrot Cake III

This is a really good recipe and I think you could chop and change things easily to add variety. I thought it was really nice the first day but the second day, the taste was even better and still very moist. It didn't even get iced before it was gone...lol.
