About this Cook
Mom of many - 11 and counting. I'm a homeschooler, free-lance writer, striving to find joy in all things. Life is very good and best when my whole family is together - cooking, eating, talking and laughing.
My favorite things to cook
Anything everyone will eat - not an easy task when you are feeding adults down to toddlers! I'm good at the big stuff but still learning on day-to-day meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Big holiday meals - Christmas and Easter breakfasts, Thanksgiving...
My cooking triumphs
When my husband told me my Thanksgiving turkey was better than his mom's.
My cooking tragedies
Mistakes in combining, reading and other user error issues - confectioner sugar will not thicken gravy. One cup of flour is not enough for a cookie recipe that calls for two. And it takes a while to get used to new pots and pans - they heated up quicker than my old ones and many a spaghetti sauce and soup was sacrificed in the process.

Hungarian Mushroom Soup
I just shared this with my homeschooling Mom's "Soup Exchange" where it got rave reviews. My only change was to mix up the mushrooms by adding some baby bellas as well as chopping some and keeping some sliced. Even my husband and children - who don't like mushrooms as I do - loved the broth.
