Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
The only thing missing from these was the icing. I wish I would've thought of that before I made them! They were a perfect consistency and flavor, but I wish they would've had just an extra zing of sweetness! Otherwise, tasty FOR SURE!

Cookie Mix in a Jar VIII

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
I wish I could say better things about these cookies, because I love REESES! Unfortunately, they were kind of bland. I know I read the directions right and used everything included, but they just didn't do it for me. They weren't awful or anything, and they sure looked good, but they weren't as chewy as I would've liked. Better luck next time!

Baked Ziti III

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2008
I made this recipe for my husband and me last night. It was SCRUMPTIOUS! True, it does make a whole whole lot, but it heats up really well for leftovers (as evidenced by my empty tupperware bowl for lunch today!). I used shredded mozerella instead of slices and it was still really good. Also I used the McCormicks basil seasoning instead of "fresh" basil and that was fine too. I just layered the sour cream in the middle. It was super easy and SUPER GOOD!

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
Loved it! Used sour cream instead of mayo and extra cheese, but that's it. It's even better the next day! Way better than the simple "french fried onion" recipe. I'm making this one for Thanksgiving!

Chocolate Pretzel Rings

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
Easy peasy! I used minature pretzels (couldn't find the round ones) and a mixture of Hugs and Kisses. It was super easy and super tasty! My sister made them using the square pretzels and those worked great too. She used those white chocolate "discs" that you can buy, and they worked just as good. YUM! My only warning is that if you are using white and milk chocolate - be sure you don't put them on the same cookie sheet, because they definitely melt at different times! Learned that the hard way. :)

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
I made this recipe with only a few modifications: I used a little over 1lb of meat and it was still plenty! I also added the beef stew seasoning packet and browned the meat just a bit before adding it to the mix. It had great flavor, but was a little too thick. If I make it again, I'll add more broth and probably water too.

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
I made this pie directly like the recipe stated, except for one thing: I only used 8oz of whipped cream instead of 16oz. It turned out perfect! Crumbling the Reese's on top is definitely an added bonus. YUM!

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
This is an excellent basic brownie recipe. We like our brownies more gooey and less cakey... this recipe says to cook for 25-30 minutes. I cooked these for 19 minutes and they were completely done. In fact, we would've preferred even gooier. That could just be our oven, but if you don't like brownies that are very cake-like, just make sure to undercook these just a tad. They're even better the second day!

Broccoli Cheese Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
My husband and I loved this. True, it is more like a quiche, as other reviewers noted, but that didn't stop us. I used a bag of cheddar cheese instead of swiss, because it's all we had - otherwise I followed the recipe exactly. Mmmm! Warms up well later for leftovers too.

Broccoli Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2008
My husband and I loved this recipe! I used 3 large chicken breasts and it worked just as well. I also ended up using a whole bag of shredded cheese, because my husband loves it (1/2 bag in the mixture, 1/2 bag on top). I mixed everything together before putting it in the dish, as other reviewers suggested. The first time, I put just a few french friend onions on top along with breadcrumbs, and it was delicious. The second time, I completely covered the top with the french fried onions and it was just too much. I won't put as many next time. Anyway, great recipe! We'll make it again, for sure!
