About this Cook
I'm mom to Kelly (age 5), and waiting on #2. I work as a nurse part-time, and my co-workers benefit from my baking habits! My husband is in the US Navy, and we've been able to live many interesting places. As a result, I love to try new cuisines.
My favorite things to cook
Anything baked! In my next life, I'm going to bake for a living....
My favorite family cooking traditions
Grew in in NOLA, so love crawfish boils. There's nothing like it anywhere else!
My cooking triumphs
Cooking for friends, and having them ask for the recipes.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I made cornbread, it was so thin and hard I could have broken a tooth on it! There is a reason for baking powder!!

Butternut and Apple Harvest Soup
I loved this soup! I wanted an easy recipe, and this is definitly it. Loved the combo of flavors. I had to make a few changes, as I wasn't able to get leeks, and didn't have any chicken stock. I substituted vegetable broth, and used dry sherry for the wine. I also seasoned it with a teaspoon of sweet curry powder. I'll definitly make this again!!!

Quinoa and Black Beans
This was FABULOUS! I added Rotel tomatoes at the end with the corn and black beans. My husband loved this! I'll definitely make this again.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies
This is the BEST cut out cookie recipe I've ever done. My daughter and I made these this morning for her class at school. They are not too sweet, and just moist enough to be addictive!
