Almond Chocolate Poached Pears

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
this was a great dessert! The presentation was lovely and the flavors elegent! I recomend using more wine and less water for the sake of saving time when reducing. I used ground spices in a tea bag and just eyeballed the measurments but reduced the amount of cardomom asked for by half and it was delish! If you dont have time to let the pears cool, the freezer works great!! Lastly, rolling the chocolate covered pears in almonds didnt turn out. Sprinkle the almonds on and then carefully press them in. This recipe is great!! Will do again!!

Sun Dried Tomato and Pine Nut Stuffed Beef Tenderloin

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
I made this with my Hunny for Valentines. We both agreed it was by far the best steak we had ever eaten, after recounting all the expensive nights out where filet mignon was served (we used filet mignon not a big tenderloin). The stuffing flavors were to die for, but I did make a few changes. I did not use the bread crumbs. Instead I took some cooked black rice from another meals leftovers, sweetened it a touch and pureed it with pinenuts to match the measurements of the bread crumbs. Obviously this made a big diffrence, but I really recomend it, IT WAS SOOO GOOD! We drank pink champgne and laughed with every bite! It was THAT good!

Broccoli with Lemon Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2008
My man loved this soooo much and insisted I give it 5. If it was me.... I dont really want to say. Im glad he likes it though! We both agreed this would accompany a seafood dish nicely. OK, let me just warn you this is going to taste just like the ingredients: Sour and Spicey. I didnt taste the broccoli much and I used the fresh stuff too.... Secondly the cooking method is not likely to impress anyone. So Im going to suggest that if the comination sounds appealing then you should try steaming your broccoli as you normally would, then cut the sauce of the recipe by half or so, and combine it to the steamed stuff. That makes more sense to me.....

Sherry Sour Cream Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2008
Wow! Yum! I left out the extra step and just finished cooking the chicken in the sauce, rather than baking it the rest of the way, which saved me alot of time. This also gave the oily sour cream a chance to separate (not sure how that would have turned out in the oven) and the sauce was plenty thick, the chicken juicy. Thanks alot for the fresh and wonderful idea!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
If You Dont Like Processed Cheese 'Food' Try This!! I made it last night and it was really good and filling. Perfect base to add you favorite ingredients to. This is the only way I have ever been able to pull off Cheese soup. Considering the bizzare changes I made to accomidate what I had availible (broth and veggies) I was surprized that it came out perfect, without any clumps or weird consistency. I started out with precooked veggies, so I just added them to the roux and it was fine! This is easy and friendly as well.

Elegant Orzo with Wilted Spinach and Pine Nuts

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
Wow! Dont overlook this recipe!! The first time I saw the name, I wasnt impressed but after reading the ingredients I wanted to try it out. This was REALLY REALLY! good and especially for such an 'unlikely' combination. BTW, I didnt have enough pine nuts so I broke up some raw pecams and cooked them with the rest and it was awsome.

Leftover Turkey Patties

This reminds me of turkey and stuffing. I used grape nuts instead of corn flakes, which was good. My Man liked this recipe, but I really did not care for it.

Dont be afaid of the three step thing, because the bit of extra effort (I mean listening to the timer while relaxing) makes a delicious alternative to pumpkin pie that recieves endless compliments. Cranberry Sauce I

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
This was awsome and easy to recover the measurement mistakes I made. I thought that one and a half cups was 12 ounces as cranberrys but I needed more like three cups. So i started it, and it was too thin. This didnt cause any probs, just added more crans and a bit more sugar. Everyone really liked it Especailly me. Thanks, this is a new favorite and made me very HAPPY

Pumpkin Pie Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
The name fits perfectly. But beware! This is the first time I made bread, So I filled the pans too high, and as they rose they gooshed all over. This also affected the cook time, adding on an extra 30 mins or more. Made a second time, adding a bit extra of everything and split it between three pans: Perfect. I swear my picky cousins didnt eat anything else that weekend and ALL FIVE LOAVES DISAPPEARED!!! Just wanted to add another 5 to this wonderful, soft and desirable bread

Banana Bread V

DONT OVER LOOK THIS RECIPE!! Even though none of the "victims" ate this first time bread recipe (because they had divine pumpkin bread {pumpkin pie bread from this site, also a first time experiment} ) I still gave it a five cuz when I got my hands on it.... YUM! I was surprized that nobody even tasted it! Seriously, with all the Thanksgiving food around, the loaves I made went through TWO family parties unharmed. They missed out big-time. Two bad for them!! We have been slicing it with no problem, toasting it and then butter. GooD! Gotta be hot! Cook time was pretty off, about twenty minutes longer then equated, but who cares!

Fast and Friendly Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
Simple, moist, and easily varied for those who do or don't do all of the spices that can be added to this great basic meatball idea. Timing and sizing were PERFECT (and I have a convection oven)... This went great with the raviole and red sauce we had. Paul was greatful.

Candied Citrus Peel

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
Neither of the two batches I made turned out very good. The recipe doesnt specify if the pith must be removed or not, so I tried it both ways in small batches. Decided that the pith should be left as it made them softer, although it didnt change the bitterness. Overall this was bitter for my taste and my excitement at finding this recipe turned to disappointment. Not the candied peel I am used to For Sure. I'll decide if I keep this to try perfecting again if my Man likes it.

Asparagus with Brie

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
MMM! So Yummy and Easy!! My Dad the Asparagus hater ate it! Changes I made: I simplified this recipe by microwaving the Asparagus in a Glass cassorole pan with chopped garlic. Crushed seasoned croutons for the bread crumbs, added mushroom halves, used olive oil. Pretty much winged it and it turned out GREAT! Flavors compliment eachother well. TRY THIS!
