At my fav Mexican Dive with my Family
About this Cook
Hi! I am the second oldest in a family of five, and low and behold we all grew up. I moved from a small country town to the Bay Area and now I live with my Dad and Boyfriend. I have an all new, remodeled high tech kitchen to use, and I feel so spoiled. I totally take advantage, This kitchen is NICE! Everyone around me wants me to become a professional Chef and Go to Culinary School. This sounds like fun but I just dont know!! Maybe some feedback on some recipes will help. Thanks for taking the time to check me out!
My favorite things to cook
I love making SOUP, for starters, and just about anything that men like to eat. My Dad has a very strict diet so yummy healthy SALADS are on the list. We love Italian food around here, and naturally my hearty red sauce has been consumed at all meal times with pasta of course! In my mind its all about SPICES, GARLIC, OLIVE OIL, and LOTS OF VEGGIES!!!! But as Ive mentioned, Dad is basically spice free, So I have diffrent thing for him too. ***Another thing that is very important to me is the need to Waste Nothing and Clean Out The Fridge. Am I Right Or Am I Right??!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year my two families get together. On my Moms side we always have Thanksgiving and Christmas. This Is Huge!! ( 8 Aunts and Uncles, Spouses, Cousins and their Spouses and Children ) I always bring deviled eggs, and my mom and I make Fudge, and Mashed potatos or Potato salad. The deviled eggs never last, and I must make some, lest the family disown me for depriving them. J/K They are the nicest people you have ever met!! Then I have a Fathers Family Gathering in the Summer, and we usually eat unGodly amounts of Steak and Seafood, Totally Splurge (so great) And cater to many preteen kids in the mood for kid food. For this Family event I am usually in partial charge of what we eat,(the woes of the willing). This year to celebrate the remodeled kitchen, my Dads family came to own house fro Thanksgiving!! It was so fun to have all my cousins here. My Aunts, Dad's Girlfrined and I all made a TON of Food!!
My cooking triumphs
When I get a whim to make anything from scratch and it is good I have Triumphed. I made Marshmallow a while back and was soo proud! It was kinda dangerous! :D Perfectly texture cheesecake is another.
My cooking tragedies
Nothing too bad, but I need help with marinated or pickled asparagas... Haha, the number one tragedy was curry cream of mushroom soup from scratch... Why was I the only one who liked it?

Sun Dried Tomato and Pine Nut Stuffed Beef Tenderloin
I made this with my Hunny for Valentines. We both agreed it was by far the best steak we had ever eaten, after recounting all the expensive nights out where filet mignon was served (we used filet mignon not a big tenderloin). The stuffing flavors were to die for, but I did make a few changes. I did not use the bread crumbs. Instead I took some cooked black rice from another meals leftovers, sweetened it a touch and pureed it with pinenuts to match the measurements of the bread crumbs. Obviously this made a big diffrence, but I really recomend it, IT WAS SOOO GOOD! We drank pink champgne and laughed with every bite! It was THAT good!

Broccoli with Lemon Butter Sauce
My man loved this soooo much and insisted I give it 5. If it was me.... I dont really want to say. Im glad he likes it though! We both agreed this would accompany a seafood dish nicely. OK, let me just warn you this is going to taste just like the ingredients: Sour and Spicey. I didnt taste the broccoli much and I used the fresh stuff too.... Secondly the cooking method is not likely to impress anyone. So Im going to suggest that if the comination sounds appealing then you should try steaming your broccoli as you normally would, then cut the sauce of the recipe by half or so, and combine it to the steamed stuff. That makes more sense to me.....
