About this Cook
I'm 27, a stay-at-home of a beautiful 17 month old girl named Lily and a soon to be ccllege student. My husband, curt, is in Kuwait right now. He'll be there for around a year. Hopefully we'll be going back to texas when he returns, but we'll see.
My favorite things to cook
I looooove making desserts. Cheesecake is my favorite. Butter pecan, maple pecan, turtle, mocha, vanilla bean. Like I said Im from texas so nything with pecan or super sweet. My fried chicken is superb Im told. I do it very traditional with mashed potatoes and cream gravy. I also like making honey soy chicken with white rice but I think I like eating more than making it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Like everyones: Thanksgiving.
My cooking triumphs
My husband came home from work one day around five and said he had invited a few friends over for poker. About an hour later 15 guys showed up, and two hours later they were all drunk and hungry. So and friend and I started cooking. We made fried chicken potatoes gravy and cookies. Everyone was full and happy by the end of it all and I had a horrific mess to clean up. Curt still hears how lucky he is that I can cook things like that.
My cooking tragedies
The first thanksgiving we ever cooked on our own as a married couple, it was just the two of us so it was a turkey breast, rolls and mac and cheese that i made in the crockpot. i had never heard or made mac and cheese in a crockpot before, so i was a little nervous. apparently i had a right to be, because we ended up eating rolls and turkey. i still want to make crockpot mac and cheese.

BAKER'S Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk Cookies
So good! I made these for a neighbor as a get well present and my husband stole the first batch! One thing I truly don't like is page after page of people putting in their two cents about how they change this and that about the recipe. If its that much changed, submit a new recipe. But thing that was out of my hands was the fact that two stores were out of bakers chocolate. I had no choice. I had to buy two bars of hersheys special dark. The large bars state 4.25oz, but they weigh on my scale 3oz a piece. Chopped coarse and added in place of bakers brand chocolate it was amazing. If you have no choice or have nothing else thats a good sub. Don't use milk chocolate!
