About this Cook
living and learning. my parents both worked while i was growing up so well thought out and prepared meals were not a big focus in our household. i'm really enjoying learning a lot about how food gets to our table. also im enjoying learning about how different flavors mix together and all that jazz. i do'nt aspire to be a first class chef but i do want to know how to make a nourishing meal.
My favorite things to cook
veggies, baking bread
My favorite family cooking traditions
cooking together
My cooking triumphs
roasting a whole chicken (i even took a picture of it), terriyaki sauce, coconut curry
My cooking tragedies
a homemade sourdough with the yeast made from scratch, hashbrowns, and lots more

The Best Vegetarian Chili in the World
This is one of those recipes I've made enough that i almost know by heart. I always omit the veggie crumbles, the kidney beans offer an awesome "meaty" taste!

Hummus III
I love this recipe as is. However, most of the time I make these few changes: 1 clove garlic about 1 teaspoon CUMIN and... if I don't feel like paying 5 bucks for a jar of tahini; I buy sesame seeds in bulk, roast (a must) about 3 tablespoons in the oven, and replace the tahini with that. Because I prefer roasting the sesame seeds I try to roast them while I have something else in the oven to save energy! :]

Honey Corn Bread
came out way darker than any other corn bread i've ever seen. im wondering what may have done it? i had to substitute earth balance for butter because i didn't have any and i baked it in a casserole dish.
