About this Cook
September I will be married for four years. I have a 13 year old step-daughter. I just started getting intrested in cooking different kinds of things. I was getting sick of cooking the same things week after week. Instead of my daughter asking me what's for supper, she now asks are you making something new? There hasn't been to many things that I've made that my family hasn't liked. My husband was a cook in the Navy so it's nice to ask him what he thinks or if I should change the recipe to our likeing. Add more of this, less of that. When we get together with my family my mom is always asking me to bring a different kind of dish to pass, It's up too you we trust you, she says. My sister is amazed at how good of a cook I've become. I love to cook and hear them say that they like what I've made. I have found something that I'm good at besides sports.
My favorite things to cook
I love making Desserts, but main dishes are also fun to experiment with. I usally do pretty well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family aren't big cooks. So I don't have any at this time. I'm basically the only cook in my family. My mom never really made any meals, so I'm not sure where or how I learned. Maybe from School or my sister isn't that bad either. I guess watching and paying attention. My grandmother was an awesome cook and baker, She past away when I was young so I never got to learn from her.
My cooking triumphs
My cooking triumph was this past Christmas. I hosted Christmas at my home this year for my side of the family. It was the first time that I could really show my family how far I've come. I made my mother-in-laws famous Sweddish Meatballs and gravy. They were a hit with my family. I doubled the recipe because my family can eat. I made the meatballs the night before and the gravy in the morning. After the gravy was done I put it in the slow cooker to keep warm. My family raved on how well I did. Mom was happy that she didn't have to do the cooking or the clean up. My husband told me how proud he was of me. I will never forget this Christmas.

Sandy's Casserole
My family loved this recipe. Instead of using can chicken I used a rotisserie chicken. The added flavor was amazing.
