I'm a 22 year old bank teller from Kitsap County in the beautiful, abundant state of Washington. I love the Pacific Northwest and all that it has to offer! Along with cooking I also enjoy snowboarding, summertime, walking in the park, fun nights out on the town, and spending time with my lucky boyfriend! When I am not working I tend to be trying out new recipes and trying to expand my knowledge and skills in the kitchen!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking Mexican - it's so easy, however it's usually comfort food and not diet food! Anything with veggies, steak, or shrimp, as those are my usual staples! I love Italian but I find that it's easy to just cook Italian and end up eating it solely for a whole week. I would rather have more variety! And I love cooking with ingredients I've never worked with before or that I don't see around very often.
My favorite family cooking traditions
To be honest, my family never did put much time into cooking. Before I took it up on my own, we were all skilled in Hamburger Helper, Mac & Cheese, tacos, and frozen dinners! Yikes!
My cooking triumphs
Almost every time that I cook is a triumph, because it means I am continually learning. Especially when I make something I've never tried before that comes out successfully! My tomato gratin and honey lime chicken enchiladas were probably my favorite hits!
My cooking tragedies
I don't bake cookies often because they tend to come out flat 80% of the time. So there's always a cookie-baking tragedy with me! I've dried out steak and had too many bones in my salmon; I made a delicious-sounding pumpkin manicotti but I substituted too many ingredients and it came out pretty bland. I would be willing to try it again though, this time without CANNED pumpkin and maybe the real fresh stuff!
