White Bean Chicken Chili

I will never understand why people rate a recipe when they completely changed it around. The way the recipe is, without any changes, is very bland and soupy. With MANY changes, which would completely make a new recipe, it is very good.

Tomato-Curry Lentil Stew

For the ingredients this recipe lists i can only give a 3 star rating. I love both lentils and curry and this dish is terribly bland. Trying it a second time, I modified it after reading suggestions by other users. I added carrots and sauted it with the garlic, onion, and celery and added the lentils later. I doubled the curry powder and added yellow curry paste ( that's what I had on hand) as well as a bit of corriander. I substituted the water with broth and used 2 large fresh vine tomatoes chopped instead the canned. At the end, i added fresh curly leaf parsley to it and some pepper. It also can use a splash of lemon juice or vinegar. Chickpeas would work great with this dish.

Corrigan's Minestrone

Very tasty soup!! I also added more water, almost added 2 cans of tomato paste, 5 cloves garlic, half the pasta, one zucchini. I added the basil and oregano at the end. By the time we were done eating, the soup turned into a stew. I will have to add again more liquid tomorrow. Very flavorful and easy to make. one of my favorites now.

Kashmiri-Style Kidney Beans with Turnips

Very good! Even the the spices with the tomatoes and onion are great by itself over bulgur or couscous. I left out the Garam marsala as I didn't have any on hand. But I increased the spices and added a bit of red pepper to add some spiceeness.

Marrakesh Vegetable Curry

I really like the sweet and spicy taste of this dish! I followed the recommendations of other users and doubled the spices and it turned out great. Though, the curry tastes much better the next day after absorbing all the spices. I also used dry chick peas. I heated the spices in the oil and cooked for 3 minutes. then I added the chickpeas, added enough water to cover them, brought to a boil and then simmered for 1.5 hrs. then I added the sauted veggies in a separate pot and added them after an hour of cooking the chick peas. DON'T add salt, and the orange juice early on to the chickpeas as they will have to cook longer. Wait until the very end to add them. served over bulgur as I had no couscous. Came out great!

Cuban Black Beans II

If you use canned beans, don't add that much water. 1 cup at the most or non at all - depending on how long you cook the dish. you need 5 cups of water if you cook fresh beans as they need to get soft. It also could use some more spices, but other than that this is pretty good.

Basic Crepes

did not like this at all. I love crepes and these were very bland and did not work out the way it is written. I doubled the recipe but only added 2TBS of butter instead of four. It was way too much butter. I also had to add more water as the consistency was too thick for crepes. I will try it differently next time. not a good recipe.

Chickpea Curry

I did not like this at all. I put half the amount of cayenne pepper in and it was just right for the hot part. But somehow, the it tasted bland. My spices are fresh and I love curries. This is not worth the effort. I will try to fix this dish as i feel bad to throw it out...

Red Kidney Beans (Rajma)

great dish! After reading the reviews, I added a bit more cinnamon. I also used canned whole tomatoes as I had no fresh ones on hand and used dried beans instead. After soaking them overnight I cooked the dish for 1h30min and all the flavors blended very well. Will definitely make again.

Vegan Black Bean Soup

I changed some things around. I soaked 1/2lb of dry black beans, didn't have any celery, and added frozen corn instead. I also added some green chillies. It came out nice and thick after cooking for 1 1/2 hours. Good soup.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

probably not the best cookies! way to sweet. the sweetness overpowers all the spices. Had to stick batter in the freezer before handling, otherwise its impossible to form cookies. Don't roll cookies in the sugar in the end and cut the amount you put into the batter if you want a more flavorful cookie instead of pure sugar....might try again with only 3/4 cup sugar and 3 tsp of ginger.

Soft Chocolate Cookies

I love these!Next time I will try to cut down on the butter a bit as they stey quite oily. flavor and texture are otherwise great. I didn't flatten the balls on the baking sheet and they came out pretty nice. The other thing I did was I stuck the batter into the freezer for not even 15 min. handeled well. Easy, tasty, I will make them again.

Grilled Fish Tacos with Chipotle-Lime Dressing

I was excited to make this dish. But it was just ok. the fish has to be spicier. I will play around with it. I actually liked the fish much better the next day. I will still add more spice to it next time.
