Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Not only does this icing look fantastic, but it is super easy to work with and tastes great! I will definitely use it from now on for cookies that look and taste great! I needed and extra teaspoon of milk, but otherwise made the recipe exactly as stated. I also tried it with vanilla and it is good that way, too. What I love is that you can spread this on the cookie with a knife, and after you let it set, it smoothes out and looks shiny and perfect. Highly, highly recommend this recipe!

Apple 'n' Pepper Saute

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
This had a very "off" taste. Neither my husband or I liked it at all. It smelled great while cooking. I wish I had stopped after sauteeing everything and just added a little salt and pepper instead of the soy sauce and spices.

Easy Iced Coffee

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
This recipe is fantastic. So fast, so easy, but most importantly, so delicious! I used a little more sugar (I like my coffee sweet) and half fat free half and half and half milk. So yummy! It was frothy and creamy and so pretty in the glass, too. I highly recommend this recipe!

Peanut Butter Easter Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
These are really delicious! I made them for Easter this year adn they were very well recieved by anyone who tried them. I followed the recipe exactly, except I needed 3 Tablespoons of milk instead of just the 1. I made small eggs and I got about 54. We liked them best right out of the fridge, so we stored htem in there and had tehm as little treats throughout the day. Very good and very easy.

Sugar Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
These are delicious! I have made them several times now and I always get compliments on them. I have also been asked for the recipe many times. Really excellent and easy to prepare. You could pay a lot of money for these if you bought them in a store, but made yourself for a very reasonable price!

Dill Vegetable Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
This was very easy recipe to make. I am not a mayonaise fan, but I really liked it in this dip. I made the recipe exactly as stated. It was very easy to put together with most ingredients I already had on hand. I made it the night before my daughter's 5th birthday party and it tasted great the next day. I think next time I might double the amount of onion I use because I really like onion, but otherwise a really simple and yummy dip.

Mazarin Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
This was a delicious dessert! I made it exactly as stated in the recipe except I used 2 tsp. of sugar in the shortdough crust and I did not include the lemon zest in the almond paste filling. It looked really pretty on the plate dusted with powdered sugar. I think it needs the powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness. Two of my three kids loved it, and so did I. The texture was wonderful. It is not meant to be a traditional "cake", and the texture is smooth and creamy with the yummy crust beneath. The only thing I can think to improve this would be to use a tart pan instead of a springform pan (it would be prettier in presentation) and perhaps to top the filling with sliced almonds prior to baking. This woul give it a very pretty top and add some texture (if you like that) to the creamy filling.

Cinnamon Rice with Apples

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
This was just okay. It smelled heavenly and all of my kids were excited to try it, but no one liked it. It tasted fine, but was just too sweet for my family's tastes.

Half and Halfs

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
These were delicious and easy to make. I followed the recipe exactly except I used semi-sweet chocolate chips and turned the oven up to 350ºF. They took just about 9 minutes to bake. They really do keep their shape, very little spreading. They taste fabulous, and they look cool. Everyone who saw them wanted to know about them and wanted to try them. A very fun AND yummy recipe! My batch made 5 1/2 dozen smaller cookies.

Lemon Gold Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
This is a very good cake. It is not very lemony, but light and tasty. I made it exactly as stated, except I greased and floured the two cake pans instead of using parchment paper. They turned out really nice and pretty. In the picture tha cake looks white, but is really a nice pale yellow color. This would be a great cake with vanilla buttercream frosting, or as a homemade white cake. Really good and clean tastes.

Mocha Madness

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
I made this recipe because I had some leftover sweetened condensed milk from another recipe. Boy am I gald I did! This is an absolutely delicious and easy mocha. I scaled mine to one serving and put the chocolate syrup and the sweetened condensed milk right in the mug. Then I microwaved it for about 20 seconds to warm it up. Then I brewed the coffee right into the mug (I have a single serve coffee brewer). A quick stir with a spoon to combine everything and a splash of half and half and this drink was delicious! Easy and yummy. Tastes as good as a coffee house mocha in my opinion.

Orange Chocolate Chip Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
This is a good bread, especially for one with so little fat in it. I made it excatly as stated except that I baked it in 3 mini loaves for about 30 minutes. They looked beautiful. I gave two away as gifts and my family ate one. Good simple taste and easy to make.

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
I made these this morning to take to a family brunch. I made the almond cherry version and this was my first time ever making scones. They turned out amazing!!! I made it exactly as stated except that I added about a tablespoon of almond paste with the butter and used turbinado sugar to sprinkle on top instead of regular granulated sugar. Everyone who ate one said they were amazing. My father-in-law said that he didn't usually like scones because they were usually dry, but these were moist and yummy. Definitely will make these again and again.

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2007
This is an excellent frosting. I substituted half unsalted butter and added 2 teaspoons cinnamon for a cinnamon buttercream frosting, and it was delicious! It made a lot, too! I frosted three cakes, each a two layer cake, and it filled and frosted all three! (It was a three tiered cake, one nine inches, one 7 inches, one 5 inches.) This will be my new buttercream recipe, Very good!

Pineapple Sirloin Skewers

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2007
This is very good! I bought a cheaper cut of meat, and could only marinate for three hours, but it was still very tasty. I added a chopped red pepper to the skewers and not only did they taste great, but they looked pretty also. Definitely will put this into my grill rotation of recipes!

Brazilian Lemonade

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2007
Absolutely Fabulous!!! The first few sips are very tart, but then it just tastes delicious! I made this for a Father's Day cookout and it was a hit!! I sent the recipe home with the guests and can't wait to make it again. I made it exactly as stated except I took another reviewer's suggestion and substituted a cup of vodka for one cup of the water. Truly a wonderful summertime drink!!!!

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

Reviewed: May 22, 2007
This was very good and different! I made this for my son's first communion party and got lots of compliments on it. I only made a half recipe, which made a nice size, and had to freeze the mixture after I made it into a ball, but it held up well and looked very pretty. I rolled it in a combination of pecans and mini chocoloate chips, which looked great. I liked the pecans because they cut the sweetness of the cheese ball. Very good!

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: May 22, 2007
I made this for my son's first communion party and it was the first appetizer to disappear! We made it before we left, then transferred them to the crock pot and went to the church. when we came home they were hot and ready and delicious!!! We did broil them for just a bit to get them crispy, but everything else was just as the recipe stated. Will make this again and again!!!

Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2007
These cookies taste great, just as I remember as a kid. However, my cookies spread significantly and were very thin and lacy. I prefer a somewhat thicker cookie, and after adding extra four to the remaining dough, had the perfect oatmel butterscotch cookie. I would strongly suggest adding an additional 1/2 cup of flour to the batter for thicker cookies that don't spread too much.
