I'm a small-town West Virginia girl who loves to entertain at home with friends and family, whether it's a small group for a weeknight dinner or 20 people for a cocktail party. And I love spending time in my organic garden and cooking with the fresh seasonal ingredients from my garden and local farms. I'm also the author of "The Comfort Table," which was written for the home cook in all of us. It's filled with recipes that are delicious, easy to follow, quick to prepare, and made with readily available seasonal ingredients. Not only will you find my family favorite recipes, you'll also get entertaining tips that will help you create unforgettable meals for occasions big and small.
My favorite things to cook
Meatloaf is our family favorite, and the leftovers are even better the next day. I love a cold meatloaf sandwich with lots of mayonnaise and ketchup. I'm a condiment queen.
I also love making any of the many Chex Party Mix recipes that are so easy for any occasion and always a crowd pleaser. You can watch me make them on Chex.com/recipes and vote for your favorite!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Grandma started teaching me to cook when I was about four. My favorite thing to make was biscuits—they were just like Play-Doh. A few years ago, I asked my grandmother to send me her recipe box so that I could make copies for my own collection. When I opened the package, a thousand memories came flooding back. Each recipe carried a different moment in my life: my favorite birthday cake or the broccoli casserole I loved at family reunions. They're more precious to me than anything.
My cooking triumphs
Peach cobbler is my husband's all-time No. 1 request. I love to make my grandmother's recipe, with juicy, ripe peaches and a drop-batter that tastes like a layer of sweet, fluffy biscuits. He loves my brownies and strawberry shortcake, too.
