About this Cook
Baking is one of my favorite things to do, it's how I treat myself after a long day at work. I often feed my boyfriend's friends who stop by the house, and they have become my biggest fans. :-) Right now I'm working on my cooking skills, and hopefully one day it will come natural to me, just like my baking. :-)
My favorite things to cook
Cookies, zucchini Bread, anything with chocolate, pancakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baked ziti. It's my best dish!
My cooking triumphs
I love reading recipes, and the recipe exchange board, and I recently created a dark chocolate glaze for dark chocolate cake II from this site. It turned out so amazing! You need guts to take risks in the kitchen, and sometimes there's a big payoff (especially if you succeed in making something delicious and chocolatey!) Also, I just figured out how reducing adds flavor to sauces.
My cooking tragedies
Not adding enough sugar to banana bread because I was trying to make it "healthier." This was more disappointing than tragic.

Pumpkin-Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
These were very soft and cake like... I made these alterations: To reduce the fat and add fiber, I doubled the pumpkin (I used one 15 oz can of pumpkin) and used only 1/2 cup butter, and omitted the nuts. I also used 1/2 all purpose 1/2 whole wheat pastry flour. Overall, a tasty cookie if you really like pumpkin and cake like cookies!

Baked Zucchini Chips
I guess I would need a mandolin to make these thin enough to get crispy. My zucchini still tasted a little bitter even with the added garlic powder and parm cheese.
