About this Cook
have been married to my 1st love since 1991. No human children, but have 2 furry and 1 feathered children. Enjoy cooking for hubby, he is terribly spoiled. Don't mind the actual cooking, just get tired of deciding WHAT to cook. Update--November 08==we are down to 1 furry child now, sadly, our first two babies have gone on to that great dog house in the sky. Our new puppy is helping us through this time though.
My favorite things to cook
pasta; baked goods;
My favorite family cooking traditions
I learned to cook from both my mother and my father, as well as both grandmothers and various aunts. All of us cook the same way, just add in what we think ought to go in, "until it looks right". Too bad you can't do that with baking, lol.
My cooking tragedies
most cakes that I bake. My cakes are almost always ugly. They usually taste ok, but look really really bad.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits
I have been "scratch biscuit challenged" until now. Made these this morning as a surprise for my husband before he left for work. I used buttermilk instead of reg milk and used a tbsp of butter for some of the shortening. I didnt knead them at all, just patted them out and cut them. I made them ahead of time and stuck them in the fridge for a while until I was ready to bake them. My husband said they were the best biscuits I have ever made. This will be my goto biscuit recipe from here on out!!!!

Eggs and Spaghetti
Oh my goodness this was sooooo good!! I used a bit of Spicy Red Pepper Roasted Garlic olive oil to fry my egg and also added a couple teaspoons of the pasta cooking water to the dish to stretch the "sauce". I also added grated parm on top. This is going to be one of my go to lunches or quick dinners, I can tell!!

Apple Bavarian Torte
Just happened to see this recipe and thought it sounded good. Boy, is it ever good!! I used 3 apples and 1 asian pear and microwaved them as other reviewers suggested. I also used 12 ounces of cream cheese. This dessert is also very easy to put together. I didnt have a springform pan so I used an 11 x 7 baking dish. It fit in there perfectly. Will definitely make again!!
