The Way to a Man's Heart

This was beautiful and delicious! Rich and creamy with just the right blend of tastes and texture. I would recommend following up with something light and clear.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
This was a very good stew. It was my first time making stew but my husband, who love stew and grew up on that kind of thing, thought it was great. I've never been a big stew fan but I really liked it. I gave it four stars because my final product, after taste testing the original which my husband still really liked, I added the brown gravy packet for extra thickness and flavor. Next time I might try a little wine for another layer of flavor like another reviewer suggested. Other posters suggested browning the meat first and sauteing the onions etc. but it's not necessary. By itself it is a great base and very easy and good in and of itself.

Clam Chowder II

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
This was a good, easy base. However, we found it had too much of a clammy taste for our little family so we added another can of cream of potato soup (we made a batch sized for two) and we added a little dill, paprika, and pepper. After our changes we loved it. I think next time I'll drain the minced clams first but overall a good, easy base for those who aren't very good as making a roux or don't know how but want a good clam chowder.

Slow-Cooker Posole

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
This was a good recipe and my husband and his grandparents loved it. I'm giving it a four star rating instead of five because I didn't like how the enchilada sauce tended to separate from the water once it starts to cool and I didn't use the green chiles. However, I'm used to posole made from scratch so I'm biased. As a throw together recipe it was good though.

Garlic Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
This was the best fried chicken I've ever made. Coming from a family big on their Southern heritage, my husband has always been big on homemade fried chicken. I'm generally good at making most West and Southwest food but every time I've tired making fried chicken for my husband it has always been very bland and floury tasting. This time I had to keep him from eating all the rest of the chicken. Now I realize I just wasn't using nearly enough spices. I followed this recipe almost exactly (I used a little less milk and flour) and this was the first time I really liked what I'd made. This was awesome! Thanks.

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
This was an awesome recipe. I was so upset at first since I hadn't printed it up and lost my power and internet the night before Thanksgiving however I found out that the recipe comes with the Eagle's brand sweetened condensed milk so our day was saved. I did change it by adding some Tastefully Simple Mulling Spice along with the ginger and cinnamon, as well as heating up the spices and pumpkin together first as another poster suggested to blend the flavors and get rid of the canned taste. My husband thought it was great and he is a big pumpkin pie man. I've never been too fond of pumpkin pie but made it since he loves pumpkin pie. After this pie I am a big fan too!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2008
This was a wonderful recipe! It tastes great cooked on the stove top too. My broiler stopped working so I had to cook it on the stove. I just put a little butter and spices in the pan then cooked the fish on each side for s few minutes then added the cheese mixture and put a lid on it. It wasn't crunchy but my husband still ate it up and he comes from a family that hates fish...lol. I also ran out of onion powder so used garlic powder instead and it was still great. Added: I broiled it this time, with the extra butter and spices, and it was awesome!
