About this Cook
I am a 40 something mother of 2 high school students. I owned a catering business for 20 years so I am used to cooking for a crowd. I am very busy with high school sports year around so I cook alot ahead of time. We camp and hike most weekends in the summer and fall if the sport schedule allows.
My favorite things to cook
Almost everything but I do not bake well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Homemade pasta and sauces made from the produce grown locally. We have eaten from the farmers market for years so we eat alot of fresh foods. We are lucky in Northern California with a very long growing season.
My cooking triumphs
Grilling. There is nothing that I wont grill.
My cooking tragedies
I tried making crab cakes for Easter and my neighbor said it was so bad that he thought it was a joke. He eats dinner at our house alot. It really was that bad. The one tragedie that really stands out is the day I had a house full of teenagers and made a pot of lentil soup. I am not sure what I did wrong but four starving teenage males only ate the sour cream off the top & left all the soup. I have not lived that down yet.

Ham and Cheese Breakfast Tortillas
This is a great recipe for make ahead school morning breakfast for kids. I make these the night before, with what ever I have in the fridge. The burritos reheat well and quickly for a filling meal. I slice some fresh fruit and serve along side. Kids love it and it keeps them going all morning long. On a plus side there is not a mess to clean up. If there are any left they will eat them when they get home from school or practice.
