About this Cook
My name is Jessica, I'm a college student living in Texas, and I love to cook for myself, my family, and my friends. Desserts are some of my favorite things to make, along with some salads and meat dishes. I hope to get to a professional level and have my own bakery or cafe one day. When I'm not in school or cooking, I love reading and writing stories. Writing is actually my first passion, with cooking coming in second. I hope to post lots of recipes on here and to find lots of good ones too.
My favorite things to cook
Cakes, brownies, cupcakes, pastries, hamburgers, meatloaf, chicken parmesan, salad.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad makes my mom and I breakfast and dinner every Sunday. Some people may think we're spoiled, but I'm not complaining!
My cooking triumphs
I took a cake decorating class around Spring Break this year, and after trying for days, I finally figured out how to make amazing icing roses!
My cooking tragedies
I've had many, many cooking tragedies. I've burned dishes, forgotten baking powder and baking soda in baked goods, and plain forgotten when I've had something in the oven! Thankfully, my cooking tragedies are becoming few and far inbetween.

Best Buttercream Frosting
Pretty good- after tinkering around with it. As it is, it's a very easy and nice recipe, although a bit bland and not very sweet. I added two cups of powdered sugar and about 1/4 cup of cocoa powder to make a chocolate frosting. With those adjustments, it was perfect! Dreamy and smooth. I most likely just have a big sweet tooth, but if I make it again without the cocoa powder, I'll probably end up making it a bit sweeter.

Creme Anglaise II
absolutely wonderful! i was looking for it to be a tad bit thicker, so i added a little slurry of cornstarch and water to it after all of the other ingredients were incorporated. it was delicious! thanks for this wonderful recipe.
