My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year my mother made a lot of pies (not to mention the dinner) for Thanksgiving. This year she's not with us, so I'm making the mincemeat pie, which was my favorite.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I cooked for my husband, I made a new recipe that I had made up and never tried before. It turned out fabulous and he still loves it!

Swanson(R) Slow-Cooker Chicken Cacciatore
Next time I will have to remove the broth from the slow cooker and thicken it on the stove. Other than that the flavor was alright, not the best thing ever, but still okay.

Pumpkin-Apple Muffins with Streusel Topping
If you follow the recipe as is, they're okay. But following other suggestions lead me to an awesome breakfast muffin. I cut the amount of sugar in half (1 cup), I used whole wheat flour instead of all purpose flour, I replaced the oil with chunky apple sauce and instead of grating apples I used chunky apple sauce. I also doubled the amount of pumpkin pie spice. MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm!!!!
