About this Cook
I am recently retired and thrilled to find time to actually cook. I spent so many years frozen, premade, or boring, quick meals that this is new for me. My family consists of a husband who loves his meat, a vegetarian daughter, and a super health conscious me! So, finding recipes that work for all of us is definitely a challenge.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking, especially bread, rolls, and cookies. But, with additional time in my day, I have found that cooking meals not as challenging.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't have a lot of traditions. I would like to start traditions and perhaps include some that my mother had when I was growing up.
My cooking triumphs
My first loaf of bread (that was edible!).
My cooking tragedies
I almost burned down my kitchen while heating oil in a pan. I left the kitchen to talk to my husband, and came back to a flaming pan!

Aunt Kate's Green Beans in Tomatoes
It tasted like I heated up a couple of cans of vegetables. Oh yeah, I did. Although it's simple with is sometimes nice, I think recipes should involve a bit more than this one did.

Italian Pork Tenderloin
Delicious! We served this over pasta, but I think I'll serve it over egg noodles next time.

Apricot Tea Cookies
We loved these cookies! I have made them with dried cherries and dried apricots. Both were yummy. I used plain yogurt instead of sour cream. It made no difference in flavor at all. I did need to add 2 Tbsp. of sour cream/yogurt instead of one to make the mixture form a ball.
