About this Cook
Been cooking since I was a kid, but only recently been really enjoying it. Newlywed and finding the feeding of my husband and friends particularly satisfying.
My favorite things to cook
I like to bake cookies and cakes, but enjoying trying out new recipes of all sorts. I have been enjoying cooking ethnic and healthy recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Never had much by way of family traditions, but I am rediscovering my cultural heritage (Filipino).
My cooking triumphs
Having my sister-in-law ask me to make her birthday cake and saying she's been dreaming of my "Died and Gone to Paradise" cake.
My cooking tragedies
First time I tried making gravy I hadn't realized that you're supposed to heat the liquid as you add the flour. I kept adding and adding, then finally clued in to heat it. Ended up with gravy that wouldn't come out of the pan when you turned it upside down. Slice of gravy anyone?

Oatmeal Cranberry White Chocolate Chunk Cookies
I added the vanilla as suggested, but I also added about 1 - 2 tsps of finely grated orange zest. According to my husband, that was made the cookie great.
