Spicy Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
I followed the advice from mommyfromseattle, and these turned out great! I omitted the taco seasoning and cayenne pepper so the kids would like them, and they were delicious. I drizzled olive oil over the potatoes and sprinkled salt over them and tossed to coat. I then baked them in the oven for 20 minutes at 400 degrees, and then 425 degrees for the last 10 minutes. Very good!

Apple-Onion Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
This recipe was very good. I did change the cooking time and method though, based on other reviews. I quickly browned the pork chops on both sides and removed from pan. I then sauteed the onions and apples, which I chopped rather small, on med/high heat until they were soft, but still had some firmness to them. It took about 10 minutes. The apples didn't really brown, but had a good flavor and texture. I then added the vinegar and broth and brought up to a boil, before adding the pork chops back in the pan. I then placed the entire pan, uncovered, in a 350 degree oven for about 15-20 minutes. They turned out very moist and delicious.

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
Great recipe. I followed the recipe exactly, except I used boneless, skinless breasts and adjusted the cooking time and method. I baked it for 25 minutes at 375 degrees, turning half way through cooking. I then broiled it for a few minutes on each side to crisp up a little. It had really good flavor and was very moist. Will definitely be making again!

Vanilla and Chocolate Delight

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
Very good and easy recipe. I did as another reviewer suggested, based on the fact that I'm not a huge nut-lover, and used 1/2 C pecans, 1 1/2 C flour and 1 T. sugar mixed with the 1/2 C butter for the crust. I also only baked it for about 10 minutes, and it turned out perfectly. Great dessert. The kids really loved it, and the crust stayed crisp even after storing in the refrigerator for a few days.

Sauteed Garlic Asparagus

Good and easy recipe. I added salt and pepper after cooking, and it was excellent! I also reduced the cooking time a little to make sure it wasn't soggy.

Honey Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
Very tasty recipe. I did as another reviewer suggested and cubed the chicken first. I then dipped each piece in about half the sauce and skewered them with onions and green and red peppers. Then I grilled them and basted during the last few minutes of cooking. They were delicious! Thanks for the recipe!

Cola Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
These were perfect just as the recipe is listed. The only thing I did differently was salt and pepper the pork chops, lightly coating them with flour and browning them in the pan before covering with the sauce and baking. I think the sauce would have turned out thick anyway, though, because it was thick in the bowl after I mixed it together. I used regular Coke for the cola, and these were delicious!

Blue Cheese Fried Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
These were very tasty! I used some of the bacon grease to cook the potatoes and only a 1/2 tbls. butter. I also used a mix of shredded mozzarella and cheddar instead of blue cheese, just because my husband is allergic. I think it would have been even better with the blue cheese, though.

Creamy Broccoli Casserole

This was very bland, even with some added cheddar cheese and pepper. I think I'll stick to my broccoli cheese casserole. Thanks anyway.

Black Halloween Punch

This was perfect for my son's spooky birthday party. It was easy to make, and tasted great. The kids loved the color. I added some bat and ghost ice cubes and a frozen hand made of ice to float in the bowl.

Ricotta Cookies II

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
My mom was looking for a recipe for these cookies, so I made them for her, and she loved them! My 8 year old nephew is always asking if I made these cookies when he comes over. They are delicious. I've been making them without the glaze, and they are still great. I store mine in the fridge in an air-tight container.

Baked Corn Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
I've made this twice so far. The first time I used flour and the second Jiffy corn muffin mix. They both turned out great, but I did cook it a little more than called for so it was not runny. I may try adding more corn muffin mix next time. Thanks for a great recipe!

Brown Rice

This was good, but I think I may try the dry soup mix next time, per other reviews. A little too much flavor for me. I also omitted the basil.

Spiced Slow Cooker Applesauce

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
Too much spice for me. I don't know what it was, maybe the nutmeg in the pumpkin pie spice? But it was way too strong. Next time I think I'll add my own individual spices. The texture was good, though.

Kona Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
I would have given this 5 stars for the flavor, but the cooking time is way too long. My chicken was really dry. I think it would be great if you knock a few hours off the time, though. 2 hours on high, or 4 hours on low would probably do it.

Mouse's Macaroni and Cheese

Way too cheesy. I made the recipe as written, but there is way too much cheese. If you absolutely LOVE cheese, then you'll love this, otherwise, I'd cut back a bit. The taste was good, otherwise.
