About this Cook
I live in the country on a cattle ranch in Arkansas. I know nothing about cattle other than the fact I like to eat them. I can relate to some of the pioneer woman's stories about living in the city and moving to the country. I am as addicted to her website as I am AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything and everything. I particularly enjoy trying to make desserts. However, I want to find and add more easy and budget friendly, main dish meals to my rotation of favorites. If I only had more time to spend cooking and creating...oh the things I could do with more Time! And, I can't wait until my kids are older so they can be involved more in the cooking AND cleaning processes!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My great grandmother came from Poland. She made the best foods especially breads, soups, and of course, Pierogi...all made from scratch. If you have never made Pierogi, it is a lot of work and a long process. When my family gets together, we create an assembly line to make our favorite Pierogi filled with cabbage and onion. It is alot of fun and the rewards...Oh the Rewards!
My cooking triumphs
I've come along way from the box of mac and cheese!
My cooking tragedies
I made the Burnt Butter Frosting from this site. I wrote down the recipe and for some reason, I thought I was suppose to use granulated sugar rather than powdered sugar. It was aweful. I may as well have just smeared granulated sugar all over my cake! The frosting was so gritty. Of course, everyone was so nice about it and ate my carrot cake with no complaints, gritty frosting and all!

Pumpkin Fluff Dip
I am not a big pumpkin fan but wanted to make this for fall/halloween. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. I served with cinnamon graham crackers and apples. This recipe makes alot so I had major leftovers!

Banana Cake VI
This banana cake was AWESOME. I used bananas that were over ripe that I had stored in the freezer. (They are so much easier to mash and more flavorful this way.) I thought the baking temp. was low but made the recipe as written. I checked the cake after 1 hour and the middle was still liquidy. I ended up baking it for 1 hour and 20 minutes and popped it in the freezer as directed. The cake was moist but I don't think it would have been any different had baked it at a higher temp. and skipped the freezer step. This recipe made ALOT of frosting. The overall result was EXCELLENT. Make this recipe! SO GOOD.

Grilled Potatoes and Onion
This is a family favorite for sure. We typically have yellow onion on hand so that is what we use. Sometimes, we just grill onions in foil all my their lonesome and sometimes we add other veggies in too. YUM!
