Diane's Kitchen Sink Salsa
2nd wedding in Vegas
About this Cook
I have been married 6 times, 5 to the same man and I have two great teen-aged kids whom I love to cater to with my cooking. I have a family of very big eaters, so I am always looking on how to make meals stretch. I spend quite a bit of time putting ingredients from my cupboard in the search to see what new, inventive things I can try. Thanks to all of you for your contributions!
My favorite things to cook
I have an Italian background, so I have traditional recipes that I find comforting. I like to try new dessert recipes since we are always looking for something sweet after dinner.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We grew up fairly poor, many of the traditional dishes I cook are loaded with carbs and little meat. Meals that can stretch for leftovers the next day. I cook alot of sauces and soups that I freeze to save time and give me a quick meal on a busy day.
My cooking triumphs
I have some popular recipes that I am asked to make again and again. My "Kitchen sink salsa", hot wings, german potato salad, bruschette, and my garlicky macaroni and broccoli are some winners.
My cooking tragedies
My husband and son are so picky, they will not eat vegetables at all outside of corn and ketchup. Makes creativity and cooking healthy impossible.

Potato Chip Cookies II
This is a standard recipe from an old church cookbook I have been making for years, we make them for Xmas and dust with powdered sugar, and green and red sprinkles. Thanks for sharing!

Butternut and Apple Harvest Soup
This recipe was labor intensive, but on a cold, rainy, fall day it was a labor of love to feed to my family. None of us had EVER had butternut squash, so it was a delicious way of introduction. I followed a reviewer suggestion and roasted the butternut squash first and had to stop myself from eating it all out of the pan by itself! Thanks for the recipe and the reviews as well:)

Zucchini Brownies
I have two family members that will not eat anyhthing green, this recipe helped me get them to eat veggies and they were none the wiser. The recipe was versatile enough that I made drop cookies out of the batter. Thanks so much for the recipe!
