Well, I've been trying to cook healthier for my family and I since I got the news from the doctor (high cholesterol). I have four great sisters who have sent me some of their recipes that they like to prepare. Really looking forward to trying some of them. I am trying to eat alot more fish, but my wife and kids are not too fond of fish. I usually pound boneless skinless chicken breasts and prepare them the same way as the fish. I've had no complaints yet. I learned to cook by watching my mother in the kitchen. She used alot of shortening in some of her dishes, which I need to try to get away from, but I will still make some of those on special occasions. I will be posting some of my recipes soon and hope some of you will try them. Thanks to everyone here who have posted recipes. The ones I have tried so far have been fabulous.
My favorite things to cook
Chili, Chicken Paprikas, Baked Pork Chops
My favorite family cooking traditions
We don't really have any cooking traditions except for New Years Day dinner. The classic Pork and Sauerkraut is always good for that day.
My cooking triumphs
My chili is pretty awesome. (not bragging) My family loves it.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I made Chicken Paprikas, I didn't put the pan drippings in after browning the chicken. It still came out ok, but it was kind of bland. We still ate it especially with the homemade Spaetzel.
