I am a young mother that loved cooking growing up, but rarely ever did it. I really began to exercise my fingers in the kitchen when I went to college and even more once I got married. One of my favorite things is to set a plate in front of someone and have them comment on the appearance- then after they taste it, have the appearance totally forgotten.
My favorite things to cook
Low-fat foods that are so flavorful that they still satisfy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up with a few special things. My mom cooked dinner everyday- so it was something I very much expected to do when I grew up, but the favs are Homemade taffy pulling at christmas and cinnamon pull-apparts (monkey bready) twice a year on special mornings.
My cooking triumphs
My goal in cooking is just to make something edible- it helps me not be disappointed and gives me courage to try new things. I have a grandmother who is the most amazing cooks I know. Last summer I made a peach pie at their home, and she recently thanked me for the recipe and said she uses it often.
My cooking tragedies
We had company over for an anual ukrainian barbeque and I tried to make a chicken dish- even after letting it cook a long time the inside was still pink when I served it.
