Hello all you decorators,  I need your opinions.  What should I do with the area above my stove?  I was thinking about having saute pans hang across the area, but the adhesive hooks don't stick on my tile.  What do you think I can do there?  I could probably come up with something if you all think the pots would look good.  I don't like it plain there, and I tried a wreath and it looked dumb.  Help!

Denise, if you have a favorite saying or word maybe you could do something like an "uppercase living" thing. It's a company that makes "stickers" of anything you like. I'll post a pic in my laundry room to give you an idea. Check my photos in about 10 minutes. That should give me enough time. The great thing is, they're easy to instal and just as easy to remove.

I have a really beautiful plate hanging over my stove. It is easy to take down and wash once a week and it adds a splash of color. You can find a plate that is not too heavy and those 3M command hooks work well on tile.

If you don't want it plain, I would find some metal scroll work and put it there in the middle of the tile. Sometimes you have even find metall scrolls at Micheals, Hobby Lobby, places like that.

Just keep in mind whatever you choose, it will get a lot of grease and should be easy to clean. I have a plate which my father-in-law painted on mine and I have covered it with plastic wrap so I can just peel and replace. If you use really good plastic wrap it fits the plate well and doesn't look tacky. I use Sam's choice wrap.

Where did you find the zester in one of your pictures? I have looked every where for one like that, with no success.

I've wondered the same thing Denise... Although my stove top comes up a little higher in the back so that leaves me a bit less space than you have!... I've considered buying stainess steel stick on squares and doing a sort of mosaik (sp?)...

You could place a cork board there w/wrapping paper and a few push pins and use this as your recipe holder spot when cooking but it would need to be clean alot I am sure lol.. But what the heck it would keep your stuff in one area

A friend of mine had her kids paint pictures on the tiles behind her stove top. It's the best part of her kitchen.

Hi, I am an interior Decorator; you have a beautiful back splash the only reason it looks plain is because you have a monogromatic theme, where all the colors blend in and nothing stands out (a focal point). If you have the means, invest in a chrome upper fan, then add a couple of chrome containers for spices to create a balance. Otherwise, A dark colored rectanguler shape pot with herbs will do the trick and can easily be set aside when cooking and you will always have fresh herbs at hand. Ikea has create little ideas and for such things. No pots, unless you have an island with the proper ceiling height and pot hangers, I would keep them tucked away. Another, idea would be to change you backsplash, with darker tiles, I love natural stone like tumbled marble in a darker shade of your existing tiles or slate, properly sealed it will clean well. Also, glass subway tiles are beautiful and they get any light you have in your kitchen and brightens up your backsplash. Hope these ideas help.
