Where are the hummingbirds?

I bought this window hummingbird feeder a little after Thanksgiving.  It has been out ever since with no takers.  I change the nectar every 10 days, but I haven't had one bird.  I live in the bay area in CA.  Anyone know why I'm not getting any birds?  I stuck the feeder on my kitchen window so that I can see the cute little guys, but no luck.  Any ideas?

Do you have any flowers nearby the feeder? Maybe they need to be attracted there?

I have 2 feeders out and have seen only 1 hummingbird in 6 months! I used to get them all the time. A neighbor a block over gets a ton. I need to ask him his secret.

You mentioned an "aerogarden" in a comment on my blog. What is that exactly??? Perhaps you could write about it. Sounds intersting.

I think Jenny's right - we only get them in the summertime and they head right for the red perches of my yellow feeder...only thing is it's a seed feeder! They are so cool to watch though.

I have a ton of ronunculus and anemone bulbs planted, but they haven't flowered yet. Maybe when they bloom the little rascals with show up.

The ones I have now have been here since spring. The ones that were around your area have probably found a winter source of food and sticking near it. You should start seeing them in the late spring. Once you have them they will stay around. Because you don't get very many deep freezes you can keep your feeder up thru the winter. http://www.worldofhummingbirds.com/startstop.php

Here in NC, we only get them in the spring and summer, but they never used my hummingbird feeder. I put 2 big, potted, red and pink hibiscus plants on the patio and hummingbirds loved the constant blooms.

In Indiana they are only here in the summer and early fall. I find that flower around the patio helps bring them in and they say once they come, they will come back every year to the same feeder.

Hi. I would think that the reflection/glare on the window may deter them from using the feeder. Maybe. Try closing the curtains.
