About this Cook
Cooking doesn't come naturally to me. I enjoy it, but sometimes it's alot of work! When the results are a success, then it's all worth it!
My favorite things to cook
I love anything sweet, so I love to bake desserts. Cakes always seem to do best for me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother made the best ever dressing and also potato salad. I think I've come close to making her proud! Holidays were always important to my family. My mother would always set the most beautiful table for the occasion.
My cooking triumphs
I guess when I first made homemade chicken and dumplings and they were great. Making my mother's cornbread was exciting too!
My cooking tragedies
There's a lot of these. I made a crumb cake the other day and had just put it in the oven when I noticed that I had forgotten to put the egg and baking powder in it! I had to scrape the topping off, and salvage the batter. It turned out good though! Another famous boo boo happened the other night when I made chocolate cookies using bittersweet chocolate squares instead of semi-sweet. Talk about pucker power! YUK!

Black Magic Cake
This has got to be my favorite chocolate cake! It's like a very rich devil's food cake. I made a 7 minute frosting and it was delicious! Very rich & moist! Definately a hit!

Favorite Fish Chowder
My husband loved this. I added a little bell pepper, celery, spicy seasoning and garnished with chives. There was plenty of juice for us without adding extra. I'll definatley make this one again!
