My favorite family cooking traditions
Mother gave me her Christmas Tree cookie cutter that her mother gave her. It is very worn, so I plan to fram it and hang in the kitchen. I got a new one to use and bake Christmas Tree sugar cookies starting the first of December. I'm still searching for the perfect recipe.
My cooking triumphs
Pot roasts! Struggled for about 7 years, then subscribed to Cooks Illistrated and never had a bad roast since!
My cooking tragedies
Accidently bought a corned beef brisket, instead of a regular brisket, and put a rub on it-it had a lot of salt. So by the time the meat was done (slow cooked it on the grill), it was like eating a big hunk of salt!! We had friends over for dinner too!! I was horrified!!! Our friends are cowboy's and love salt and meat, so they ate it anyway. But I still think they were just being nice. It was awful & embarassing.
