About this Cook
I'm a stay at home wife and mother of four kids, living on a farm in rural North Carolina. We've lived all over the world, and I love to cook foods we enjoyed in each place, as well as old fashioned American favorites.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, use my crock pot, can and preserve foods, and fix a big nightly meal for our family. We like ethnic dishes, but focus mainly on healthy, organic and cooked from scratch foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love cooking with my two daughters. They are tweens and are handy with chopping, stirring and serving. Those hours we spend together in the kitchen are our favorite family traditions.
My cooking triumphs
I'm pleased that I'm able to throw in a pinch, a dash and turn out good food without a recipe. I get some inspiration from allrecipes.com but I get compliments on my meals and it makes me happy.
My cooking tragedies
I once caught some steaks on fire under the broiler, while my husband and his boss were in the living room waiting for dinner. Smoke billowed out and I burned my hand trying to save the steaks. They were edible, but barely.

English Muffins
Wonderful recipe! I've used it several times, and my muffins turn out with the "nooks and crannies" we love. This last time I substituted 1/2 cup sourdough starter for 1/2 of the milk, and they were even better. Thanks for this recipe!

Hummus IV
Fresh and flavorful - so much better than store bought hummus! I doubled the recipe and it was gone in one day. I especially like the garlic and lemon in this recipe. I served it with cut up whole wheat pita triangles.
