About this Cook
I am a wife, mom, full-time student and avid letterboxer. I love to cook and bake things that I've never tried before.
My favorite things to cook
Things I've never tried before, Chicken Saltimbocca, Apple Pie, Homemade Salsas and Sauces, and pretty much any dessert.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Unfortunately, my family doesn't have many cooking traditions. Which is really sad considering my grandma used to own a cooking store.
My cooking triumphs
Managing the Chocolate Rum Meringue tower on what was easily the most hectic Thanksgiving ever.
My cooking tragedies
On my very first Thanksgiving, the stuffing was inedible. I had misread the recipe, and there was raw egg that had globs of spices in it. Fortunately, StoveTop doesn't take too long and I managed to save the dinner before the power went out. Easily the worst Thanksgiving ever.

With Abigail Porter's additions to the directions, these turned out fantastic. Preheating the pan, and using room temp eggs and milk made for popovers that were sky-high, beautiful and delicious.

Easy Swedish Apple Pie
I've been searching for a swedish apple pie recipe to teach my kid to bake. This is almost exactly like the one I learned when I was little. Easy for kiddos to do pretty much by themselves, and absolutely delicious! I used a bit less cinnamon than called for, and my hubby (who doesn't do desserts) was begging for it to be a regular menu item. :)

Seven-Up(R) Cake II
I made this for my hubby's birthday and it was a huge hit. It was a simple enough recipe that my son helped and got to learn about basic baking principles. We followed the recipe except for: we used 1tsp vanilla and 1tsp lemon extract, and we added 2tbsp of lemon juice. It ended up with a great pound cake like texture, with a light and airy lemon flavor. My mother, who doesn't even like sweets, even liked it! We will definitely be using this one again. :-)
