Shrimp Avocado Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2005
Good recipe. Tweaked it a little to suit our needs. I used whole tiny cherry tomatoes, added the avocado on the top of each serving (didn't want the cut avocado to get brown before we ate it), and added a bit of Old Bay seasoning for more flavor. Husband liked it very much. Leftovers were better the second day and I didn't have to cook tonight. I think this would also make a nice potluck dish. Thanks for submitting!

Perfect! Way better than anything bought at the grocery. This goes in the keeper file.

This was quite good! Next time I will use unpeeled shrimp and only cook them for about 3 minutes. Husband really liked this meal.

Hershey's ® Hot Fudge Pudding Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2005
Great recipe! This turns out just like pudding cake should. We like it best when still warm out of the oven and topped with vanilla ice cream. The reviewers who gave this a poor rating must have either prepared it wrong or not understood that a sauce/pudding layer is supposed to develop on the bottom of the cake layer.

Creamed Chicken for Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2005
Great basic recipe that allows for lots of substitutions depending on what you happen to have on hand. Husband really, REALLY dislikes peas...but he ate 'em! We'll have this again using broccoli or asparagus instead. Also, this recipe makes a lot for our small family. Served this last night over buttermilk drop biscuits, we're having the leftovers tonight over rice. Thanks for submitting Sara!

Banana Pancakes I

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2004
These were fine to get something on the table quick. I put everything into the blender to save time. However, it overmixed the batter and my cakes were a bit flat and rubbery. They'd have turned out fine if I'd stirred the batter together by hand. Will try again and serve with sliced bananas on top and warmed syrup and butter.

Great dish! I'll be making this again for Thanksgiving dinner and often this winter. We put heated up the leftovers with some roast pork in flour tortillas. Family all loved it!

Persimmon Cookies

These are delicious! We couldn't stop eating them. The only change I made was to substitute orange-flavored Craisins for the raisins. These cookies are moist and perfectly spiced. Might try with a little lemon glaze next time. Thanks for the keeper, Ruth!

Hi there! I submitted this recipe...it SHOULD have read that the can of tomatoes was UNDRAINED. You will need the extra moisture for the recipe to turn out properly. Sorry to those who followed the original inaccurate directions.

Nell's Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2004
We really liked this salad. I had to make a few adjustments due to what I had on hand...no celery, no corn, red instead of green onions, and added some celery seed. We'll try it again according to Nell's formula. Great base recipe!

Pumpkin Dump Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2004
The whole family liked this, even DH who is not a pumpkin fan. Rather than melting the butter, I sliced it very thin and covered the nuts and cake mix. Tastes best cold with a dollop of sweetened whipped cream. A keeper! The people who rate this only 1-2 stars do not 'get' what a 'dump cake' is supposed to be. This recipe is a perfect example!

Very rich! I found the bottom to be a bit greasy. Next time will increase the amount of graham cracker crumbs by a 1/2 cup or so. Cut these small, they are so sweet they make your teeth ache!

Yum, yum, YUM!!! I am making tomorrow (4th time!), and will try chocolate pudding mix in the filling topped with Cool Whip. I've found that we don't care too much for the chocolate syrup. The cream cheese adds a great richness!
