About this Cook
I am a SAHM. My family consists of my husband, me, and our 5 yo daughter. We just moved from AZ to WA. She will be starting kindergarten in September and I will be finishing my massage degree starting October.
My favorite things to cook
I just LOVE to bake desserts! Breakfast foods (pancake, eggs, bacon, waffles, ect...) are next on the top 3 then dinner meats (beef, pork, chicken)... now I am trying to concentrate on expanding my comfort in more ethnic/healthy cooking. I haven't always been adventurous in my cooking either. But recently, I have been doing a little experimenting/tweaking of my tried-and-true recipes to make them more quick-n-easy and perhaps a little more interesting.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As a kid I always loved how thanksgiving day would be so hectic and everyone in the family would pitch in even if they were only 3 yo! LOL.
My cooking triumphs
My cheesecake! Ever since I made it, anyone that tries it begs me to make them one for Christmas... I keep telling them I got the recipe off this site!
My cooking tragedies
Oh WOW! there have been a lot of them. But I have made some very important discoveries that way too. Okay here is a true story...When I was just married and my daughter was little. I was contantly exhausted and distracted. I started boiling some water to make pasta for dinner. Well my husband called to tell me he would be an hour or so late from work. So I decided to shut off the water and take a nap because it was one of the rare times my little girl was a sleep. The only thing was I FORGOT to shut off the stove! So when I woke up from the nap and went to turn on the stove to heat the water for dinner. I found that all the water had evaporated and a very large hole had been burned right through the pot! I was so embarassed...

Grandma Johnson's Scones
Since I haven't made scpnes before, I am rating mostly the ease of this recipe. it is super easy, I just pressed the dough together briefly instead of rolling it out & cut smaller pieces (24 not 8). The taste is good as well. Tasty! I will use lemon, orange & chocolate chips the next time. Thanks for sharing!

Best Ever Pie Crust
This is an easy, good crust. It can be made for sweet pies by adding 2 tbsp sugar to recipe. I made it for both a shepards pie and for an apple pie. Not the best crust I have had but it is the best I have made so far. I will keep this recipe on hand but will also keep looking for the prize-winner! Thanks for the recipe.

Amish White Bread
This is a very forgiving recipe! Not only did it live up to what other reviewers have said, but I made some very silly mistakes. First, I forgot the sugar. So I just mixed it right into the dough I had made. Second, I didn't roll it out before letting it rise the first time. I followed all directions after that. It turned it out beautifully. I made this over the weekend. I did as some suggested and cut the sugar by 1/3. It was still very sweet! I also only made a half-batch because I had bought 3 loaves of bread not two days before I tried this recipe out...I just couldn't help it when I read all the raving reviews! So I divided the dough in half (1/4 the recipe at this point) and formed one piece into a loaf as is and the other I pinwheeled cinnamon. I baked both in the same 9x5 pan as directed. Both mini loaves were devine!
