About this Cook
My profession is mortgage loan consultant but cooking and keeping house are my passions. My greatest loves are my daughter and granddaughter. Collecting recipes is like an addiction. If I started cooking them today, I would not make it through my collection and yet, I continue looking for new recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking cakes and other desserts, especially cheesecakes. I also enjoy making a variety of soups and sauces for the freezer in the fall. Brunch is my favorite meal to plan and to prepare. Baking yeast breads is a very rewarding and relaxing pasttime for me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My famly looks forward most of all to Thanksgiving dinner and brunch on Christmas morning. We always change the menus but keep a few favorites from year to year. My husband looks forward to Jumbo Overnight Cinnamon Rolls. I found the recipe in a special Christmas edition magazine in 1991 and have made them for him every Christmas since.
My cooking triumphs
My sister's bridal shower and my daughter's baby shower are both events I am very proud of. Both were brunches, my favorite meal to prepare. I like to think that all my family holiday meals are triumphs!
My cooking tragedies
I have done my best to forget them! The most recent is the pumpkin pie I dumped on the oven door and the floor as I was putting it in the oven. It's amazing how much filling is actually in a pie crust! You have no idea until it's running all over the kitchen!

Banana Pumpkin Bread
Good pumpkin bread but not the best. At least the banana gives it a little different flavor than other recipes. Like others, I used fresh pumpkin and had to bake the bread for approximately an hour and ten minutes to get it done.

Orange Banana Nut Bread
I added to this recipe as I went along. Like other reviewers, I added orange zest - the zest from two oranges. I increased the oil to 1/2 cup, added 1/2 cup sour cream and also used 3 bananas. I hava a banana nut bread recipe that calls for sour cream. It has always been moist and very good so I decided to give the sour cream a try in this one, too. To the flour mixture, I mixed in a little cinnamon. Really good, really moist! The orange zest really kicked it up. Will be adding this to my favorites.

Nutty Peach Quick Bread
This recipe just didn't work out for me. Since everyone else really likes this reipce, it must have just been me. I did combine blackberries with the peaches but don't think that should have made the difference because I kept the fruit amounts the same. I chose to make one large loaf as opposed to the mini loaves and adjusted the baking time for that. Naturally, I had to cover the top to keep the oats and brown sugar from burning but the bottom half of the loaf never got really done. The only thing about this that tasted good to me was the fruit. Otherwise, I found it lacking in flavor. Just didn't like this one at all.
