About this Cook
This is probably true of many of you out there too, enjoy reading cookbooks! I enjoy creating things, sewing, knitting, embroidery, crochet, jewelry.
My favorite things to cook
Dessert! Chocolate! Stir-fries. In that order.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to make pumpkin seeds at Halloween with my boys. Growing up, my Mom would make "eggs in a Frame", and I loved when Dad stopped at the donut store (usually Dawn Donuts) after working the midnight shift at the plant. Grandma and I loved making fudge together, and she taught me to use a cast iron skillet for everything - especially cornbread! My French Canadian Grandma would make special items for Holidays; mincemeat pies and for my polish Grandpa we had to get kielbasa from Hamtramk, served with sauerkraut of course! I always looked forward to the elaborate relish tray too.
My cooking triumphs
When ever I make something BOTH of my boys like!
My cooking tragedies
Greasy disgusting hamhocks and soggy green beans, no one would eat it! (Except the dog)

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Bars
Everyone loved these, even picky non-oatmeal eaters. Used a mix of leftover chips: semi-sweet, butterscotch, milk. Butter - no shortening. Used sliced almonds in half/one side. Non-nut eaters didn't notice anyways...

Peanut Butter Bars I
Soooo good! I made it with 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter as suggested by others. Used milk chocolate chips (Callebaut - the best). I will definitely make these again, so many compliments. They are gooey but stay firm in the refrigerator.

Strawberry Refrigerator Cake
Yummy! Next time I will try one of the suggested variations. I'm not usually a fan of boxed mixes or cool whip but the fresh fruit makes it fabulous. I used fresh strawberries with added sugar, pureed using my immersion blender, when I poked the cake with the end of a wooden spoon the holes were big enough to let the fruit soak in. Used the cheesecake pudding made with 1 1/2 cups skim milk.
