About this Cook
I'm a very petite, 20-something redhead. I've learned most of what I know about cooking from my petite, 50-something brunette mom. I took a few cooking classes in high school, and have been experimenting here and there since then.
My favorite things to cook
Stir fried veggies & tofu or pork, vegetables tempura, fried rice, easy desserts, breakfast foods
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom's roast beef with carrots and potatoes in delicious brown gravy, spanish rice and stuffed peppers, and pasta salads
My cooking triumphs
I've perfected my own version of "pink stuff" and I'll post the recipe here.
My cooking tragedies
One time when I was much younger I tried to make a vanilla cake for my brother's birthday, but it didn't rise, so we had "vanilla brownies." Everybody seemed to like them though, oddly enough.

Beer Cake II
I used milk chocolate, regular milk, and black cherries, and omitted the walnuts (Because that's what I had on hand). I also made them into cupcakes. The tops were a little over-done even at 45 minutes, so I would suggest checking them at 30-40 minutes. The flavors of the beer and cherry juice mixed very well, and the rest of the cake was moist and delicious!

Grandma's Apple Dumplings
Delicious! Very rich (maybe a bit much for me, I think I'll cut back on the sugar a little next time.) I did use apple juice in place of orange juice because that's what I happened to have in the fridge. Very simple to make, and I agree with the reviewer who said to cover it halfway through baking. But they were tender, soft, and tasty for sure.

Tater Crisp Chicken
Excellent with Idahoan flavored mashed potatoes. They are less flakey, more powdery, so they give a nice texture. I used loaded baked potato flavor.
