About this Cook
I'm a 63-year-old mother of 3, grandmother of 5, great grandmother of 1. I've been married nearly 45 years and have cooked since I was 8 years old. I'm employed full time and also a homemaker. My husband & I have lived in the foothills near Denver for 30 years.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook all kinds of things and I like to bake. I try new recipes often and after all these years, I'm renewing my interest in cooking because of websites like this one.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband believes nobody makes meat loaf like I do and my kids and their spouses think I'm the best cook they've ever known. (I do a good job of fooling them all!)
My cooking triumphs
The best thing I've ever done is learn how to make pie crust that doesn't fall apart in the oven. It's done with oil. I've also learned how to make Maid Rites that taste as good, if not better than when I get them at my hometown restaurant.
My cooking tragedies
My first stab at making beef gravy had to do with using green food coloring and I used a little too much...need I say more? It was ironic it was on St. Patrick's Day, so my husband and in-laws thought I was being clever! I also tried making homemade cloverleaf yeast rolls from scratch when I was newly married and they turned out looking like Mickey Mouse heads.

Chicken Pot Pie IX
I use the basic recipe, but sub canned white chicken meat and diced potatoes. I also use a can of cream of chicken soup. This is a keeper!

Enchiladas
I'd never thought of using flour tortillas. I'll have to try it this way. I always use corn. I'll give it 4 stars since I haven't tried it yet. But, I will! Thanks!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
I made this recipe today. I have many recipes similar that use 1/2 the ingredients, which I did and I made 80 cookies. This recipe is for a double batch, which will make anywhere between 144 & 180 cookies easily. I added 1 tsp. salt and an extra 1/4 cup of flour since I live at 8200 feet. I used instant French Vanilla pudding and this is a keeper. Thanks for sharing, Debbi. We LOVE this one!
