About this Cook
I am a 25 year old accountant and I work for a prominent life insurance company, though sometimes I wish I would have gone to culinary school! I grew up in a family of women that loved to cook and bake for their families. Now, I find myself wanting to do the same! I have a boyfriend who is a total "meat and potatoes" man, a father who loves apple pies and banana breads (though I can't bake these nearly as well as his mom-my grandma-did), and a mom who is always looking for new, low-fat recipes! So in essence I have my hands full. I can't even begin to imagine what things will be like once I have kids! I may have to quit my day job after all... :-)
My favorite things to cook
Any kind of baked good- brownies, cupcakes, muffins, breads-- you get the idea, Chicken, Mexican cuisine, Dips, Pasta and Sauces, anything that's quick and easy or will put a smile on a loved one's face.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking dumplings with my busha, Thanksgiving dinners at my Grandma's house, My mom's chicken dumpling soup, I could go on and on...
My cooking triumphs
I still don't think I've had that a-ha! moment. I'd really like to make an awesome apple pie for my dad.
My cooking tragedies
When I was little, I once tried to make a funnel cake. The oil started "exploding," and ended up all over the kitchen ceiling. Needless to say, my mother was not too happy.

Best Tuna Casserole
Great base recipe that you can modify to fit your tastes! I did end up adding about 4 oz. sour cream so this didn't end up dry. Topped with parmesan cheese instead of crushed chips because I didn't want the topping to be to greasy. Also, I shredded my own cheese -this is the way to go! Shredding your own is cheaper and the cheese doesn't have that nasty powder stuff on it t keep from sticking. This recipe is a keeper and I will make again.

Jif(R) Peanut Butter Blossoms
urned out great! We used 1/2 cup butter instead of shortening. In addition to milk chocolate kisses, we used dark chocolate kisses, peanut butter cups, and Rolo's! We froze the candy prior to baking so that the candy wouldn't melt when it was put on the cookie.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
Average for me. I was a bit scared at how wet the batter was. Followed the recipe exactly but refrigerated the batter for an hour. These were chewy, loved by my boyfriend but I'd rather stick to my old stand by recipe-- toll house!
