About this Cook
Happily married mother of 3 kids(16,11 &5), 2 dogs, 2 cats and various other critters my daughter insists on keeping. Thank god for the bug box!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking with my 5 year old daughter. Anything with flour is fun for us. Cookies, casseroles, breads and stir fries are my personal favorites.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Not really a tradition but I love any and all of our big family holiday meals. It is so fun to have everyone together in the same room at the same time. It seems like these days everyone is so busy with school, sports and work that its difficult to slow down. I enjoy the holidays for this reason. Although it is a crazy time for most I love it.

Grandpa Hubbard's Oatmeal
Yummy!! My DD and I had this for dinner tonight. We did add a little cinnamon because we like that but this was wonderful. She has become quite fussy about her food lately and she gobbled this up in no time. I think that gets this recipe 5 stars just for that alone. Thank you for sharing such a yummy and comforting recipe.

Amish Friendship Bread Starter
I have been making this bread for years and it is wonderful. My family loves it so much I try to keep the starter going as long as I can. I use it to make pancakes, waffles, biscuits, rolls, cinnamon rolls, cookies...the list goes on. I have found that with a little creativity and paceints you can make just about anything. I also got tired of the gallon sized bag on my counter so I invested in a pretty glass crock. For those of you having problems with bubbles...it might not be warm enough on your counter so try puting it in the oven overnight (my oven is always a little warm inside) ~JUST DON'T TURN IT ON!~ this will keep it free from drafts and the little bit of heat will help it ferment. Just don't forget to take it out in the morning. Happy baking!!!

Seven Layer Mixed Up Salad
Thanks for sharing. For those of you who think its a little bland add an extra tsp of ranch seasoning. I like to put this on a bed of lettuce, no dressing needed. Also very great for the brown bag lunch, just keep the luttuce seperate until ready to eat. You can also use 1/2 mayo & 1/2 sour cream and toss with cooked pasta of your choice and you have a wonderful Bacon Ranch Suddenly Salad. Wonderful recipe thanks again for sharing.
