I've been cooking for over 30 years - now we are Empty Nesters with 5 grown kids, some married, all living in their own homes and the youngest is now a U.S. Marine. I don't have that "cooking ego", but I know what I'm doing, so I disagree with having to call myself "expert" and saying "people love my cooking." I can cook and I enjoy it. I finally adjusted to scaling down to just the 2 of us, but being a Proud Marine Mom now has me cooking more when I get nervous (which is always). ["What's with all the food???"] Lots of adjustments!! All Marine Families know our motto: "Semper Gumby" ~ Always Flexible.
Same goes for cooking.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that I can tell is a good basic recipe, and I just take it from there. Some other cook always has something new to offer and it's fun to try something new. I'll ALWAYS compliment a cook that shares a good recipe, but will never trash a recipe, especially on a public forum. Why would anyone do that?!
I appreciate what people have to share. They're just recipes that someone else thought we'd enjoy and that's good in itself. This is a very good source, and the reviews pretty much tell you if this will fit what you're looking for. Again - "Semper Gumby".
My cooking tragedies
As a new bride, I made a nice Corn Chowder on a winter afternoon and "the parents" were coming over. Disaster... I used Sweetened Condensed Milk instead of Evaporated. What a Rookie!
