About this Cook
I've been cooking for over 30 years - now we are Empty Nesters with 5 grown kids, some married, all living in their own homes and the youngest is now a U.S. Marine. I don't have that "cooking ego", but I know what I'm doing, so I disagree with having to call myself "expert" and saying "people love my cooking." I can cook and I enjoy it. I finally adjusted to scaling down to just the 2 of us, but being a Proud Marine Mom now has me cooking more when I get nervous (which is always). ["What's with all the food???"] Lots of adjustments!! All Marine Families know our motto: "Semper Gumby" ~ Always Flexible. Same goes for cooking.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that I can tell is a good basic recipe, and I just take it from there. Some other cook always has something new to offer and it's fun to try something new. I'll ALWAYS compliment a cook that shares a good recipe, but will never trash a recipe, especially on a public forum. Why would anyone do that?! I appreciate what people have to share. They're just recipes that someone else thought we'd enjoy and that's good in itself. This is a very good source, and the reviews pretty much tell you if this will fit what you're looking for. Again - "Semper Gumby".
My cooking tragedies
As a new bride, I made a nice Corn Chowder on a winter afternoon and "the parents" were coming over. Disaster... I used Sweetened Condensed Milk instead of Evaporated. What a Rookie!

Rice-so-Nice
Really nice recipe as written. This is what we always call "Baked Rice". Great with a little Garlic/Herb Seasoning as well. Thanks for posting a reliable dish we can turn to over and over again.

Pineapple Angel Food Cake II
I made this in the traditional Angel Food Cake Pan and it worked great. Remember to ALWAYS invert the hot cake pan over the neck of an empty wine or large soda bottle until it's cool. That way the cake stays nice and high. It's also good with pure Orange Extract instead, but this recipe is a winner as it stands. Thanks for posting this one.

Steak on a Stick
Oh my gosh. What a winner. Next time, the butcher said he'd slice the meat and thread these for me no charge in thanks for me stopping back in with this recipe for him to try. He loved it, and yes you got all the credit. (I hope he means he'll slice & thread every time I call my order in. What a deal for me!) We had fun with this one. Everybody's happy. I agree with your advice to use low-sodium Soy Sauce. That's why you get *****. ~Congrats, Dominique and thanks.
